The Garden Studio Workshops
are an opportunity to take time out of the fast pace of modern life and allow yourself to develop the creativity which exists in us all.
They are an opportunity to use your eyes, hands and physically engage with the materials you are using in ways that are mindful absorbing playful.....
And in between moments of quiet concentrated activity, there will be chats and laughs and tea and lunch - an opportunity to get to know people in an un-pressured way. And if the weather is nice we can sit in the garden for tea!

Amelia
The purpose of the Garden Studio workshops is to invite people into my studio to share the skills that I have developed working in a wide range of materials as a designer and maker for many years in the theatre, creating sets props and puppets.
Most of my work has involved making something that I have not made before so there has been an element of learning in every project that I have done. I strongly believe in having a go, experimenting and learning from your mistakes.
Over the years I have run workshops in both 2 and 3D art forms for diverse groups including older people, autistic groups, teenagers, children and approach teaching with a light touch and like to encourage people's latent creativity. I enjoy the practical aspect of showing people how to use tools and working with materials that they might not have worked with before.
In recent years I have been developing my own work as an artist - in particular drawing, collage and creating sculptures out of found wood and stone carving

Tristram
The workshops will be supported by Tristram who is an experienced sculptor who models in wax and clay and carves in stone creating both naturalistic and abstracted figures. He has carved gargoyles for Chichester Catherdral, done commissions, worked at Madame Tussauds and taught sculpture at HND level. He is dedicated to the process of learning to look at nature and creating strong dynamic design within sculpture.
