For cat lovers out there, this is a fun workshop with a clear process to create a standing cat sculpture.
In this workshop you will be guided through the process of making a cat sculpture in wire, foam and plaster bandage. Starting with a simple wire armature of the structure of a cat, building up form in foam, it can then be positioned into your preferred cat pose and then finish it off in plaster bandage.

For those who would like to try something different with clay, this is an inspiring and creative workshop involving interesting sculptural processes – clay modelling and casting in plaster.
Working from an image/design of your choice, we will guide in in how to build up overlapping form in clay to create a relief sculpture. You will then cast your clay sculpture first in alginate to create a negative form and then in plaster to create your finished sculpture which can then be painted.

Using heavy duty wire as a bendable structure and a range of natural materials – pine cones, branches, bark, you will be supported to create a sculpture 2 or more figures in a joined pose of your choice.
It is also an opportunity to use some basic tools – drills, hand saws, pliers and explore how to fix things together and make them stand up!

In this workshop you will have the opportunity to be inspired by a wide range of objects and materials to create quirky surreal figures and faces. A playful and freeing workshop for creative people who think they can't draw.
We will begin by doing lots of line drawing exercises which are all about learning to look and let your hand follow your eye rather than the other way round and not worrying about the outcome.
Then we will use these drawings as inspiration to create eye-catching collage designs

An introduction to the absorbing and ancient art of stone carving.
You will have a boulder of limestone to work with and be shown how to use the range of stone carving tools in order to block out, develop and refine shapes and be encouraged to create an interesting 3 dimensional sculpture.
The workshop is for a maximum of 4 people so there will be plenty of opportunity for 1-1 support and guidance and for you to develop your skills and understanding of how to work in stone.
If you have some means of transport you will be welcome to take your work home with you - but be warned - stone is heavy!
All materials and safety equipment will be provided.
